Jewelry Armoire
There are many good reasons to buy a jewelry armoire. Whether
you are collecting jewelry, or you want to preserve your old
favorites- jewelry armoires
are a stunning way to organize, store, and protect your keepsakes
and valuables.
Most models are free standing, with perhaps design or scrollwork
on the base, and beautiful finishes in black or mahogany.
When choosing an armoire, think carefully about what kind
best suits your lifestyle.
Hardwoods- Maple, Cherry and Mahogany are examples
of hardwoods.
Cherry wood, also known
as American Cherry, is used widely for its durability and
strength. The Black Cherry is an exotic, finely-grained wood
with a light-pinkish tone and velvety texture. It is a rich
wood that deepens in color with time, being light sensitive,
though the heartwood cherry might show alternately dark and
light streaks as it ages. Cherry, along with maple and birch,
are replacing the more traditional-looking oak as the favored
wood type for furniture. Black Cherry is also called: wild
cherry, rum cherry, and whisky cherry.
Stains will also change the look of the wood: for instance,
a black stain with deepen the color of Cherry wood a rich,
satiny midnight-black. A red mahogany
stain will add an intense, darker level of red, and a polish
with put a glossy sheen on it.
Softwoods- Pine and Cedar are examples of softwoods.
Softwoods are ideal for detail work and are often used to
construct attractive household furniture. Pine
is aromatic and soft, and can have prominent ring-markings
throughout the grain. Also called the sugar pine or white
pine, it is usually light honey-gold in color, but can be
stained or finished to a darker color.
However, due to the soft surface of softwoods, they are susceptible
to marks and dings. Be careful if you have children or animals
running around.
